Is it possible Argentina will a Socialist President and Vice President for the next four years? Juan Grabois and Paula Abal Medina are the leading contenders championing the people in the upcoming 2023 elections.
This remarkable and patriotic response letter from Juan Grabois to the current US Ambassador in Argentina truly showcases Juan’s anti-imperialist character and political beliefs. Rather than accepting the invitation to the US Embassy, he graciously extended an invitation to Mark Stanley to visit their humble office, focusing solely on the issues that are of significance to all Argentinians and not aligned with Washington’s Imperial Agenda. In his written communication, Juan firmly expressed his decision not to attend the Embassy.
“I consider that those rituals of submission are part of the sad history of neocolonial subordination that maintains Latin America in a state of misery, dependency and underdevelopment. The actual situation is the product of a co-responsibility between the State that you represent and local actors – oligarchy, politicians, sectorial leaders, public officials, judges, attorneys, lawyers, journalists, etc – that submit themselves to pay homage to a foreign power and defend its interests more than those of their fellow citizens.”
Evo Morales and Juan Grabois have been friends for a long time. Juan even went to Bolivia to defend Bolivian democracy during the bloody coup in 2019. Grabois also accompanied Evo when he sought political asylum in Argentina and when he eventually returned to Bolivia. “La Patria Grande” is not just a slogan; it’s a reality.
In Jujuy, the Indigenous Tribes have been the vanguard of an immense popular resistance against the brutal repression by the provincial armed forces, acting under the orders of Governor Gerardo Morales’s mafia (no relation to Evo). The province is essentially under their control. The police and military have caused numerous fatalities and hundreds of injuries, with dozens left blind after the violent crackdown. Citizens have been abducted in unmarked vehicles, protesters imprisoned without trial, and illegal housebreakings have occurred, all violating Human Rights and bringing back memories of the horrors of the bloody dictatorship during Operation Condor in the 70s. The disturbing practice of targeting protesters’ eyes has unfortunately become common in the repression tactics of puppet governments supported by Washington during protests. Instances like the 2019 coup in Bolivia, the severe repression of uprisings in Chile in 2019 and Colombia in 2021, and the recent 2023 coup in Peru, which has resulted in a de facto regime allowing 1500 US troops into the Peruvian Amazon, serve as stark reminders of this concerning trend.
Other sectors, such as teachers, health workers, farmers, and leftist militants, have courageously opposed the unconstitutional constitutional reforms carried out by the unpopular governor, Gerardo Morales. These reforms not only criminalize protests but also grant the state the power to forcibly seize people’s houses or land, even affecting indigenous communities that had received compensation for historical injustices. The suspicion of strategic resources in an area, particularly lithium, could trigger such actions. In a display of solidarity with the people of Jujuy, massive protests have taken place in Buenos Aires and other cities and towns across Argentina, uniting hundreds of thousands of left-wing militants and citizens.
“I don’t want Argentina to resemble what’s happening today in Jujuy,” said Juan Grabois from San Salvador of Jujuy, where he officially launched his presidential candidacy. “I am initiating our campaign in the very place where the laboratory of a new repressive neoliberalism seeks to subjugate Argentina, completing its mission to turn it into a colony and exploit it to the fullest,” announced the leader of the Frente de Patria Grande, marking the beginning of the internal competition in which he will rival against Sergio Massa, the current Minister of Economy, with evidence pointing to his association as an agent of the Empire, seen with his friendly demeanor during trips to Washington or meetings with the IMF.
Choosing Jujuy as the epicenter of Grabois’s campaign was not coincidental: it not only allowed him to highlight the repressive model of Morales as the antithesis of his political project but also emphasized the differences with his internal competitor. “It is truly disheartening that my rival hasn’t condemned the actions of Gerardo Morales, perhaps due to their long-standing relationship,” continued Grabois.
Juan Grabois and Paula Abal Medina, candidates for La lista Justa y Soberana, symbolize a shift to the left and socialism within UP (Unión por la Patria). UP is a political coalition composed of Kirchnerists, Peronists, Socialists, and Communists. The coalition aims to rejuvenate itself after suffering an electoral defeat in 2015, which had severe repercussions for the people and the country. Additionally, the failed government of Alberto Fernández, formerly part of Frente de Todos, also had significant consequences.
Juan and Paula have made a bold promise that, if elected, they will immediately terminate the unlawful agreement with the IMF. However, before they can do that, they must first prevail in the internal competition against the IMF puppets currently in the administration.
The political strategy of the Frente de Todos in 2015 with Scioli, 2019 with Albert, and 2023 with Massa has been consistent – leaning towards the center and colliding with the right. In an attempt to appease a sector that is not their own, and to avoid a right-wing victory and government, they have betrayed their militant and electoral bases, along with their own political identity, three times in a row. This has resulted in a profound internal crisis within the coalition and a tremendous unrest among its bases.
The Justa y Soberana agenda stands as the complete opposite of the traitorous and unsuccessful strategy of the past. Unión por la Patria now presents a Presidential candidate (Juan Grabois) and a Vice Presidential candidate (Paula Abal Medina) who genuinely represent the party’s bases and political identity. They lean towards the left and propose bold policies that align with the geopolitical reality of a multipolar world:

Grabois, a social activist from the 2001 generation and the founder of the Movimiento de los Trabajadores Excluidos, openly expresses his admiration for La Revolución Bolivariana and identifies himself as a Castro-Chavista Latinoamericanista. In the context of 2023, where La Patria Grande boasts leaders like Lula as President of Brazil, Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez in Colombia, Luis Arce in Bolivia, Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, Miguel Díaz Canel in Cuba, AMLO in Mexico, Xiomara Castro in Honduras, and Dilma Rousseff as President of the New Development Bank of the BRICS+; and following significant summits like the CELAC-UE Cumbre and the Cumbre de Los Pueblos, the militant and electoral bases of Unión por la Patria find themselves in the appropriate setting to choose this young and socialist ticket in the las PASO (Primarias Abiertas Simultáneas y Obligatorias) on August 13, 2023. This choice allows them to enter the general elections in October with candidates who genuinely represent their political space and strengthen their cause.
The notorious traitor Gerardo Morales, who was previously part of the exFrente de Todos, is now vying for the position of vice president within the Juntos por el Cambio coalition (led by Mauricio “El Gato” Macri). In this internal competition, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, the current Chief of Government of la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, is running as the presidential candidate in this ticket. Competing against them is Patricia Bullrich, the former Minister of Security under “El Gato,” known as a neofascist and a member of one of the 30 oligarch families (Bullrich) dating back to the early days of Argentina’s history.
In these elections, the despicable fascist ultraright puppet of US imperialism, Javier Milei, is also a candidate for President under the banner of La Libertad Avanza (a highly contradictory name). His party aims to end Argentina’s monetary sovereignty by giving control of the money printing machine to the US and the Federal Reserve in his dolarization plan. This puppet figure, supported by certain mainstream media, has openly expressed that if he is not elected, he would back Patricia Bullrich and her repressive government project.
However, given the current trend of dedolarization in the global economy, Milei’s ideas have seen a decline in popularity. With two-thirds of the world economy already moving away from the US dollar rapidly, his campaign appears even more absurd, and this is evident in the polling results, including those from less credible sources.
In a Multipolar World, where the BRICS+ and La Patria Grande play significant roles, the most coherent presidential option is La lista Justa y Soberana of UP, featuring Grabois and Abal Medina. Unlike other candidates who govern in the interest of multinational corporations and the local oligarchy that fund and support them, their financing comes strictly and exclusively from crowdfunding. They stand out as the only formula with a comprehensive government program covering all areas, and they are the sole leftist project capable of competing against the Troskysts in October.
It appears that they are the only ones capable of pulling Argentina out of its crisis and leading it towards unprecedented prosperity. The Argentine People seem to understand the context well and are poised to support the “Human Argentina” promoted by Frente de Patria Grande, potentially paving the way for a Socialist Government in the coming years.
