On Friday December 10th a Tornado ripped through the Illinois town of Edwardsville causing the death of 6 workers, Deandre S. Morrow, 28, Kevin D. Dickey, 62, Clayton Lynn Cope, 29, Etheria S. Hebb, 24, and Larry E. Virden, 46. These deaths lay on the hands of the irresponsible company, Amazon, which put profits above people.
The workers were told to stay at work to keep up their Christmas quotas. These workers nor did they know they were risking their lives and the very future of their families by listening to these orders passed down by those who represent the corporate interest of the company. When Amazon finally sent a warning text to shelter in place many of these workers had nowhere safe to go. There was no underground tornado shelter, there was nothing capable of protecting these workers. Anywhere the tornado touched would be ripped apart.
The Center for Political Innovation sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of those surviving the 6 men and women whose lives were taken far too early because of the negligence shown by Amazon management and executives. We demand Amazon cover all expenses the surviving families may occur as a result of these deaths. Furthermore, Amazon has a responsibility to pay the salary of the deceased to their surviving family for the next 5 years. The disregard for human lives at Amazon has only brought disaster after disaster onto countless American families and for that, all of us at the Center for Political Innovation send love and solidarity to all affected by this tragedy.
